Want A Backyard Swimming Pool? Know What To Expect During The Initial Steps

Posted on

Are you ready to build the swimming pool you have been dreaming about in your yard, and you've decided to do it with concrete? If so, it will help to know the following things about the consultation process.

Initial Consultation

Everything starts with receiving an initial consultation from your pool building contractor. They are going to come out to your home and assess your wants and needs concerning a swimming pool. This includes the overall shape of the pool, where you want it to be located, the number of people that will be using the pool, and any specific features that you want it to have.

Measurements will then be taken of your property so that the designer can determine where the pool is going to go. They'll take your list of wants and needs back with them to the office and get to work.

Second Meeting

Your second meeting will involve seeing the concepts that the pool builder has come up with for your specific property. You'll be able to see a diagram of the shape of the pool so that you know what it looks like and where it will go, potential illustrations or computer renderings, and photos of real-life examples so that you can see previous work done in the same style. This will give you a great idea of what to expect if you move forward with having the pool built.

Cost Overview

You'll be given a written estimate about what makes up the total cost of the pool, as well as what each phase of the construction process will cost you. You should receive a line item estimate so that you know how the grand total has been reached. This allows you to negotiate with the pool contractor about the final design, and potentially add or remove features to get to the final price that you will pay. For example, you may decide to forgo the raised spa part of the pool that you want because it costs too much money.

Official Plan Creation

If you want to move forward with having the swimming pool built, you'll sign a contract and the pool builder will move on to creating the official plans. This will be what the pool builder actually constructs, which ensures that everything is going to fit as intended and be up to code. Small modifications may need to be made at this point if necessary, but the final design will reflect what you talked about during your consultations.
